Since 1994, ActiveMath Workshops has been revolutionizing the professional development experience in the area of K–12 mathematics workshops. We are proud that we provide motivating and exciting experiences to assist teachers to better meet the needs of their students. To date, we have had almost 5,000 teacher registrations—with some teachers having taken over 20 of our workshops.
The focus of these unique workshops is hands-on, real-world mathematics for both regular and special needs students. Registrations are limited in ActiveMath Workshops so we can provide participants with individual attention—and enable active participation. Each of our veteran facilitators has over 30 years of mathematics teaching experience. Our focused workshop curricula, created by our facilitators for each specific course, are aligned with state and national standards and are based upon the latest teaching techniques and accepted best-practices. So you can be assured that your facilitator has the deep content and pedagogical knowledge necessary to provide you with a truly worthwhile experience.
Most of the workshops are held on Friday evenings and Saturdays to make it easy for teachers to attend. ActiveMath provides a comfortable and professional environment for the workshops through the use of fully-equipped meeting rooms, morning and afternoon snacks, and lunch (for most workshops). All participants receive a binder replete with original activities that are designed to be used directly in the classroom. The binders provide duplicate copies of the activities so that teachers will be encouraged to be active during the workshops, modeling what their own students would be doing.
ActiveMath also provides on-site workshops—and will customize workshops to meet the needs of individual districts or schools.
Depending upon the workshop, Graduate Credit is available through National-Louis University, Chicago State University, or Aurora University. Chicago Promotional Lane Credit is also available for most workshops. CPDUs for Illinois recertification are also available.
Overall, our goal is for our participants to convey the same enthusiasm for teaching mathematics to their students as we convey during our workshops. We look forward to working with you in this most important endeavor.
